“What are we doing on June 10th?” I think that was the first thing I said to my husband, Jason when he got home a few days ago. He laughed and shook his head.
June 10th is a big day for Disney World this year! This summer has many new and exciting events coming and I can’t wait!
The Epcot project will finally be finished on June 10th when Communicore Hall and Plaza will open to guests! Finally, Wall-cot will be gone, and we can walk across World Celebration without a maze of construction walls! Communicore Plaza will be a centerpiece for the Epcot festivals- a gathering of food booths, cooking demos, art installations and a stage for live music and shows. On June 10th the first of the shows on that new stage will be ¡Celebración Encanto!. Inside Communicore Hall you can meet Mickey and his pals. These 2 buildings will have the geodesic pattern of Spaceship earth- and I am here for it!
Very close to Communicore we have the new walk-through attraction Journey of Water Inspired by Moana, which opened last year along with Dreamer’s Point with its statue of Walt Disney as well as beautifully illuminated World Celebration Gardens. These 2 locations were open when I was at Epcot in February, and they are so great! World Celebration Gardens is amazing at night- such a great vantage point for the light shows on Spaceship Earth. It offers lots of seating during the day for a nice rest or a place to sit with festival foods. Journey of Water is such a fun and interesting interactive look at the water cycle- fitting Epcot’s goal of Edu-tainment.

Also opening this summer- over in Magic Kingdom- Tiana's Bayou Adventure! This reimagining of Splash Mountain is in testing right now (opening date TBA). In February we could see the many trees and details of the mountain facade. This retheme feels well thought out and detailed, the Imagineers have been hard at work. It will be a popular place to cool off this summer!

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTS INGONYAMA BGITHI BABA!!! I always just sing “Ahhh, Topanga, Bag of peaches, mama.” Lion King is 30 this year! Animal Kingdom Park is celebrating with fun themed foods like a collectable Pumba popcorn bucket. Timon and Rafiki will be greeting guests over at the Conservation Station.
Over in Disney Spring we will see a new drone show starting at the end of May! Dreams that Soar show will highlight the joys of flight. I fully expect to see nods to Peter Pan, Dumbo and Aladdin but we have no details yet! The overseas Disney parks have many drone shows that are amazing- Is this the start of this type of entertainment in the US parks?

Sadly, I don’t think my husband fell for it so I doubt I will be in Epcot on June 10th. But a girl can dream.
